Deckwench Webbuilder Template

Let's get started.

To see how this page is built, look at the controls across the top of your browser. Click on the browser command "View" and select "Source." If you are using MS Internet Explorer, a notepad will open a revealing the html-- HyperText Markup Language-- behind the page. Netscape doesn't give you a "live" view, and blocks the view of your page, so open up a notepad independently, and copy everything on the Netscape source view to the notepad. Then you'll get two views of the same document, one seen through the eyes of the browser, and one in raw html. To make it easier to read, click the "Edit" command on the notepad page and select "Word Wrap."

Save the notepad you created as template-old.htm and then close it out and open a new one and save it as template.htm. That will allow you to keep the original version unchanged so that you can refer to it if you need it later. Be sure you saved the whole thing; it should begin with <html> and end with </html>.

Once you've done that, use this page as a template, replacing the text I've written with your own words and headlines. Change the font on the page headline.

Save it and open the page with your browser-- either go to "Documents" on the Windows Start Menu or go up to "File" on the browser and select "Open" to see what you've written.

Once you are comfortable with this page, move on to the other pages and expand you skills. In each case you'll open up the Source View to the page and save one copy with -old added to the name and another copy with the original name. Be sure to keep the names I've assigned the files entact so that your links work (more on that later) then change the contents to suit yourself. Be sure to save the notepad page, then hit the Refresh button on your browser to see what you have dome.

Good luck and have fun with it. I would appreciate feedback on this page. Email me at kittym@deckwench.com
