Putting things exactly where you want them

This is the left half of a very simple table with the text contained within it centered. I set the font face as
<font face="ariel,helvetica">

In this side of the table, I let the text align itself to the defaults, which is align left, just like the rest of the page. The font formatting doesn't carry over from one side of the table to the other.

In this table I have used a solid background for the table cell, but have not outlined the table itself.
I have nested a table within a table to give a more colorful effect.
